What is #WhyKomen?
#WhyKomen is the story of the “why” behind Komen Michigan. It is the story of those we serve, our supporters, our staff, and all those who have been touched by the work we are able to do in our community. The #WhyKomen giving campaign runs from October 1st to December 31st. It is Komen Michigan’s premier 2019 end-of-year giving campaign, with a purpose to raise funds to help those who shape the #Why behind Komen Michigan.

The Stories Behind #WhyKomen
“I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time at age 27, one month after I got married. Due to a strong family history of breast cancer, after a lumpectomy and a bilateral mastectomy with reconstructive surgery, i was diagnosed again five years late while I was pregnant with my second child. I had surgery to remove the tumour, chemo, and also devlivered a healthy baby. After that I offiicially finished my chemo. I am an occupational therapist and currently help run a breast cancer rehab program in towm”
