San Cemente, Calif. – October 9, 2015 – Standup for the Cure received the coveted SUP Magazine Award for Top Philanthropic Effort at last night’s Standup Paddling Industry Showcase hosted by SUP The Mag. The SUP Awards represent the “People’s Choice” of the best and brightest athletes and performances of the year. “It’s an unexpected honor for Standup for the Cure to receive this recognition given pool of nominees this year.” Says National Event Director Dan Van Dyck “Our National partners, Ambry Genetics, Riviera Paddlesurf, Maui Jim and Kona Brewing Co and local partners in Newport, Muskegon and Miami have been instrumental in our success. That said, I view this as an opportunity to congratulate the entire Standup Paddling Industry for pulling together as a community for fantastic causes across the board…We all win when we act as a Family!”
Standup for the Cure’s mission includes raising money and awareness for early breast cancer detection while introducing the breast cancer community to the active, healthy lifestyle of Standup Paddling. “Our event goes beyond raising money,” Says Event Founder Judie Vivian “we screen for breast cancer and melanoma for free on site and we introduce our wonderful sport to hundreds in each community we visit. I couldn’t be more thrilled with our success!”
