Rachael Burnosky // Director of Community Engagement
Rachael became a member of the team in 2017 Interning as the Community Outreach and Education Coordinator. After graduating from Grand Valley State University with a degree in health communications she joined the staff full time as the Community Outreach and Education Coordinator and in 2019 became the Director of Community Engagement. As the Director of Community Engagement, she is responsible for organizing, planning and leading third party and national development events for the affiliate, implementing community breast cancer-specific health programs and managing volunteers. With her love of health education and self-advocacy, Rachael has brought a determined spirit to spreading the mission and fighting for a cure to end breast cancer forever. In her free time, she prefers the outdoor air of Michigan, camping, hiking, snowshoeing and working on her private pilot's license. When not enjoying the outdoor air she has a passion for cooking and finding the best french dip sandwich in Grand Rapids!
Brady Velazquez // Interim Executive Director
Brady has worked in customer service for over a decade and has career experience in project management, process analysis and quality assurance. She began working with Komen in 2010, as a Race for the Cure Committee Volunteer before joining the Komen Michigan Staff. As the Director of Event Logistics and Operations, she will organize, plan and lead all Komen Michigan events. Brady received her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Science – Community Relations with a cognate in Sociology from Michigan State University. She remains active in the community through volunteer work, which includes being on the Board of Directors for Capital Area Latina Youth (CALY). Brady is a self-proclaimed foodie and loves to travel. In her free time, she loves to cook and bake, spend time with her husband, niece and beagle.
