Erica Bills // Executive Director
Working in the nonprofit sector for more than a decade, Erica brings experience in nonprofit leadership, fund development and strategic marketing to Komen MI. She also has a proven track record in developing strategic relationships with diverse groups of donors and increasing community partnerships. Erica was previously a board member for Komen MI. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Kalamazoo College in Health Sciences, and her Master's Degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University. Before coming to Komen MI, Erica worked at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Quality Resource Management, Muscular Dystrophy Association as Executive Director. She enjoys volunteering with Rotary Club (member), Women Working Wonders, Jackson Symphony Orchestra (Chair), Habitat for Humanity, and ITEC. In her free time she loves to play with her 6-year-old daughter, Chloe, being out on the water and playing soccer or running.
Sarah Hockin // Mission Director
Sarah got her start at Komen Michigan in 2015 as a Special Events Intern, volunteer, and finally Community Events Coordinator in 2016 while also working at Spectrum Health prior to joining Komen Michigan full-time in January 2017 as the Mission Director. As the Mission Director, she directs the funds we raise from our many sponsors and fundraisers by grant making, advocacy, and outreach. All of these pillars work towards our bold goal of reducing breast cancer deaths by 50% before 2026 and our mission of ending breast cancer forever. As a graduate of Grand Valley State University, with a degree in Public and Nonprofit Administration, emphasizing in Community Health, and minoring in Spanish, Sarah brings a strong understanding of nonprofit effectiveness within the diverse communities of our 24-county service area. Along with that, her background in healthcare and customer service has provided many opportunities in which she effectively and consistently is building relationships with many members of the community to continue the fight against breast cancer.
Michelle Robinson // Finance Director
Michelle has worked for Komen Michigan as Finance Director for 7 years beginning in Lansing in 2010 and joining Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo in 2013 and 2014 respectively. Michelle is a 17-year breast cancer survivor and has been involved with Komen for over 16 years both serving on the founding Board of Directors for Mid-Michigan and various Race Committees. She has done 5 Breast Cancer 3-Day 60-mile walks, participated in 4 Ride for the Cure events, and joined every Race for the Cure 5k event in Lansing. Michelle graduated with honors from Michigan State University and obtained her CPA certification. Her work experience includes five years public accounting, internal auditor, and eleven years as Chief Financial Officer for a global company in the automotive industry.
Jen Henkel // Director of Donor Relations
Jen began her Komen career as a Race for the Cure volunteer with the West Michigan Affiliate for 8 years before joining the Komen Michigan staff. As the Donor Relationship Manager, she is responsible for donor cultivation and stewardship for our individual, Torch Society and Circle of Hope programs along with volunteer management and intern recruitment. Jen received a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Spanish from Western Michigan University and has career experience in sales, marketing, human resources and event planning. In her free time, Jen enjoys reading, traveling, baking and spending time with her husband and daughter.
Rachael Burnosky // Community Outreach and Education Coordinator
Brady Velazquez // Director of Event Logistics and Operations
Brady has worked in customer service for over a decade and has career experience in project management, process analysis and quality assurance. She began working with Komen in 2010, as a Race for the Cure Committee Volunteer before joining the Komen Michigan Staff. As the Director of Event Logistics and Operations, she will organize, plan and lead all Komen Michigan events. Brady received her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Science – Community Relations with a cognate in Sociology from Michigan State University. She remains active in the community through volunteer work, which includes being on the Board of Directors for Capital Area Latina Youth (CALY). Brady is a self-proclaimed foodie and loves to travel. In her free time, she loves to cook and bake, spend time with her husband, niece and beagle.
