For those who need treatment for breast cancer, the University of Michigan Breast Care Center has the philosophy of breast preservation, through lumpectomy and radiation therapy, when possible. They also offer support and counseling for women going through treatment and immediate reconstruction using the patient's own tissue. The University of Michigan Breast Care Center also offers a Breast Cancer Survivorship Initiative Program to assist patients in learning more about health issues that may occur following completion of their breast cancer treatment and strategies to address these issues and concerns. See their website for a full list of patient resources and educational materials.
