Erica Bills // Executive Director
Working in the nonprofit sector for more than a decade, Erica brings experience in nonprofit leadership, fund development and strategic marketing to Komen MI. She also has a proven track record in developing strategic relationships with diverse groups of donors and increasing community partnerships. Erica was previously a board member for Komen MI. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Kalamazoo College in Health Sciences, and her Master's Degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University. Before coming to Komen MI, Erica worked at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Quality Resource Management, Muscular Dystrophy Association as Executive Director. She enjoys volunteering with Rotary Club (member), Women Working Wonders, Jackson Symphony Orchestra (Chair), Habitat for Humanity, and ITEC. In her free time she loves to play with her 6-year-old daughter, Chloe, being out on the water and playing soccer or running.
Tanya Horan // Vice President of Development
Tanya has worked for Komen West Michigan as the Development Director since January of 2011, and has recently joined Komen Michigan as the Vice President of Development. She is responsible for all development and fundraising efforts including sponsorships, donor relationships, major gifts, planned giving and special events. She works with community organizations to build strong partnerships. She graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University and started her career doing special events all over the United States with Wizard Studios. After working in the corporate market, she decided to transition her event planning into the non-profit world to help others. She has over 15 years of experience working in non-profits and special events and is always willing to come up with fun ways to maximize sponsor engagement and relationships.
Michelle Robinson // Finance Director
Michelle has worked for Komen Michigan as Finance Director for 7 years beginning in Lansing in 2010 and joining Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo in 2013 and 2014 respectively. Michelle is a 17-year breast cancer survivor and has been involved with Komen for over 16 years both serving on the founding Board of Directors for Mid-Michigan and various Race Committees. She has done 5 Breast Cancer 3-Day 60-mile walks, participated in 4 Ride for the Cure events, and joined every Race for the Cure 5k event in Lansing. Michelle graduated with honors from Michigan State University and obtained her CPA certification. Her work experience includes five years public accounting, internal auditor, and eleven years as Chief Financial Officer for a global company in the automotive industry.
Jen Henkel // Donor Relationship Manager
Jen began her Komen career as a Race for the Cure volunteer with the West Michigan Affiliate for 8 years before joining the Komen Michigan staff. As the Donor Relationship Manager, she is responsible for donor cultivation and stewardship for our individual, Torch Society and Circle of Hope programs along with volunteer management and intern recruitment. Jen received a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Spanish from Western Michigan University and has career experience in sales, marketing, human resources and event planning. In her free time, Jen enjoys reading, traveling, baking and spending time with her husband and daughter.
Travis Mix // Events Director
Travis comes to Susan G. Komen Michigan with a Bachelor Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management with an emphasis in Event Planning and Food & Beverage. In addition to Hopsitality & Tourism Management, Travis has a Minor in Business. Travis has previous work experience as Komen’s Community Events Coordinator and began with Komen as an intern. Travis also has experience from volunteering for a variety of non-profit events, some of which he served on their committees. In this new role Travis will be responsible for all 3 area Race for the Cures, Ride for the Cure, and other Komen events throughout the year. Travis’ passion for his work comes from years of seeing family and friends fight this terrible disease. He has dedicated his time until a difference is made in the fight against breast cancer.
Alicia Holst // Community Events Coordinator
Alicia began her journey with Komen Michigan as an intern in 2014 and never truly left. She loved volunteering with Komen Michigan so much that when the opportunity to apply for the Community Events Coordinator job opened up, she jumped at the chance to become a staff member. With her degree in Public and Nonprofit Administration from Grand Valley State University, Alicia is able to bring new and inventive ideas to raise money in unique and successful ways. Alicia is responsible for helping with all fundraisers put on by valued community partners. She loves meeting with people who are passionate about ending breast cancer and wants to put on a fun event to help the cause. In her spare time, Alicia enjoys camping, campfires, trying new foods, and hanging out with her fiance Kyle and their dog Gus.
